Candidates for Congress who will be on the ballot in November 2010 are invited to respond to Your Candidates–Your Health 2010 the questionnaire following the primary in their state or territory.

Each candidate will receive a letter explaining the initiative and a copy of the questionnaire. They are given the option of responding by fax, mail, e-mail or online at a secure Web site, www.yourcandidatesyourhealth.org. Each candidate is assigned a unique password so that only they can access their online questionnaire.

Candidates' answers appear as they entered them online. Responses received by fax, mail and e-mail are entered in the online system as submitted. Candidates' responses are only reviewed for inappropriate content (e.g., profanity). Candidates are contacted and given the opportunity to edit their responses if any content was deemed inappropriate. Responses received from candidates who are no longer running do not appear on this site.

History
In polls by Research!America and other organizations, Americans consistently describe medical, health and scientific research as important, yet just 8% say they are very well informed about their elected officials' positions on these issues.

To help change this, Research!America and its partners launched Your Candidates–Your Health in 2006, inviting all candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to participate in this new voter education initiative. The results were presented in an easy-to-use website, searchable by ZIP code, state and name.

In 2008, all presidential candidates were invited to respond to the Your Candidates–Your Health 2008 questionnaire. Candidates for Congress in November 2008 were invited to respond to a similar questionnaire following the primary in their state or territory.
